Queen B’s Decree: Research with Rivals is the next in the cozy fantasy series, Fae by the Bay. The first in the series, Bargains with Benefits, was such a cute and fun read, so I had high hopes. I love the magical world building in this series; it’s enough to make it interesting but not so much that I get bogged down in the details.
Evelyn has a massive chip on her shoulder (which is frankly, warranted) but it does make her a prickly character. Ambrose is just this awkward little nerd, who is so very obviously into her, but Evelyn is so blinded by her own attraction that she doesn’t see it.
I loved the back and forth between them, how much they are drawn together (and oh, the sexual tension, just from that man’s forearms). And the way their shifted forms bonded? Priceless.
I love this series and can’t wait for the next.
