Queen B’s Decree: I had such an enjoyable time reading this one. I was part of a traveling physical ARC, so seeing what other readers before me had annotated made the reading experience that much more fun.
I want to say this is a cute paranormal romcom, where a teenage boy wakes up and discovers he’s now a vampire. But it’s not all cute and funny, there are definitely some seriously deep issues that get talked about. Brennan has mental health struggles, including depression, suicidal ideation, and anxiety. And I appreciate how the author incorporated it all; you never feel like Brennan is broken.
I enjoyed the relationship progression between Brennan and cute library boy, Cole, and I found them both to be awkwardly adorable. The side characters were wonderful, and I just loved Nellie—her difficulties with technology were so relatable.
I was definitely impressed this was a debut, and I’ll be looking out for more from this author.
