Queen B’s Decree: Shaedes of Beasts continues the story of Opal, her two men, and the rest of the magical council. It seems like these shaedes can’t catch a break—as soon as they solve one problem, another one pops up.
Opal went through something pretty traumatic in Shaedes of Fire, and it definitely changed her. She became a kind of unlikable character, unfortunately. It seems that losing parts of her soul has translated into her losing her compassion, empathy, and loyalty as well. Edmyn and Farris—who finally are friendly—give her unconditional support (and lots of orgasms) but it doesn’t always feel like a two-way street.
I realize that a lot of my thoughts are my dislike for one of the triggers, and I truly think that others without this issue will love the book. I know there is another book planned for the series, and I plan to continue!
