Read. Reign. Repeat.

Pot Shot by Laura Lee Piper

Queen B’s Decree: How do I describe the love I have for this one? It’s got:

  • humor and great banter, especially hilarious inner monologues
  • well researched medical information
  • found family
  • great narration (the Jersey accents killed me in the best way)
  • a man who has been down bad for YEARS
  • just enough steam to keep me interested
  • ❤️Dr. Appa❤️

I couldn’t stop listening. There is so much missing communication between Nomi and Julian, but for ONCE, it worked for me. I totally understood Naomi’s reasoning to keep her health private, and I also understood Julian’s need to save everyone (childhood trauma, y’all). And believe you me, I wanted to murder this man in the first third or so of the book. Truly, the dressing down he got from Dr. Appa was life giving—it made my little healthcare loving heart give a grinch smile.

But he learned. And apologized. And dare I say it, he groveled. And boy, it just melted my heart once we got to know all his idiosyncrasies. He earned his forgiveness and there was no way Nomi could resist him.

This was my first read from Laura Lee Piper but definitely won’t be my last.
