Queen B’s Decree: I devoured this one. There’s just something about one character threatening the other that just grabs me. Something for me to talk about with my therapist 🤷🏻♀️.
Khalani is so easy to like. Especially with the current time line we’re living in, it’s easy to wonder “what’s the point?” So I absolutely understood her mix of “drive to live” and “I don’t want to be here anymore.” And unlike so many fantasy books, she is not a badass fighter. But by golly, she’s stubborn and learns and practices. And that’s just an admirable thing, especially in a dystopian story.
Takeshi is a perfect foil. A blank face that you know hides so much.
I was sucked into the political story line and the wild machinations of their world. And the cliffhanger, 100% unexpected and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds in the rest of the series. I’m ready for more.
