Read. Reign. Repeat.

Of Fates & Ruin by Alaya Wells

Queen B’s Decree: I love a character that contains multitudes.

Isi is, at various times, infuriating, naive, supportive, vulnerable, vengeful, sweet, and strong. She has the strength to infiltrate a rival court to avenge her sister, yet not the hindsight to see the wrongdoings within her own country. She’s instantly mad at Trew, purely because he’s the rebel king, even though it’s clear to everyone that the man is smitten with her. Basically…she has insanely good character growth throughout Of Fates & Ruin, but getting there was tough at the beginning (pretty sure I yelled “just kiss him!!” a few times).

Trew basically falls for Isi immediately, and he’s so protective and adoring. Can’t help but love the guy: all he does is care for his people and want to love Isi. And I love the family that Isi makes with her teammates and fellow warriors; they all band together and help no matter what.

The cliffhanger snuck up on me. I even knew it was coming and I still wasn’t prepared for the reveal.

Listening to this on audio was the way to read. The narrators Piper Goodeve and Theo Sinclair portrayed such emotion, I felt like I was truly there. Can’t wait for the next!
