Queen B’s Decree: Despite there being some heavy topics in Lights Out, it was still a relatively quick and fun listen.
Maisie stumbles upon Gio while working at a party and long story short…he needs her to be his fake girlfriend to help in the press. I always love when a famous person ends up with someone who doesn’t really care about their sport—Maisie learning about Formula One racing just for Gio was so cute.
Gio supporting Maisie in getting back to biking, and Maisie supporting Gio with the pressure he faces in the public were very heartwarming moments. I liked how their relationship felt real, actually becoming friends in the process.
There’s definitely some angst here, and a third act break-up that is so realistic. Remember, these are 20 and 21 year old kids, I would have absolutely acted the same way as them. And it wasn’t fixed with a simple apology, both of them had to work for it.
The audio was great, Jessie Elland did a great job with all the accents!
