Queen B’s Decree: Before I read this book, I was pretty sure I only liked the primal play kink when it occurred in monster or alien romance. I mean, it’s one thing for a werewolf chasing me down ✨animal instincts✨ and quite another for an insurance agent to chase me.
After reading Willing Prey, I think I can definitively say that I don’t personally want to be chased (cardio??? hard pass) but in fiction? Yeah I can get into that.
While this story is heavy on the smut—buckle up, it starts quick—I liked that the rest of the story felt well-balanced. There’s romance, a developing friendship, past traumas and vulnerabilities; oh and just a teensy weensy bit of stalking.
And the narration? Phew, Aaron Shedlock did a fantastic job portraying a “normal guy” but letting out the crazy when they are in the woods. And Amy Hall brought such life to Claire—I really think I wouldn’t have enjoyed this book as much if I hadn’t listened. And now, I’ll be waiting for book two.
