Queen B’s Decree: There’s just something about a rejected mate trope when the rejected FMC goes on to live her best life without him. Mera is the outcast of her wolf shifter pack when the alpha’s son rejects their fated mate bond. She ends up doing some spooky witchy stuff, and has to stay with the Shadow Beast until she can fix what she broke.
I loved her inner monologue. So sarcastic and quippy. I can totally understand that being her defense mechanism after living the life she has. And despite how Shadow acts, you can tell he likes her fighting him, verbally at least.
This is a bit of a slowburn with a major cliffhanger at the end, but since I initially read this when it was first released, I felt prepared. In fact, I think I liked this even more during my reread — I’m so glad this got picked up for a traditional release as it was like reopening a fun gift.
And now it’s time to start the next in the series!
