A Waltz on the Wild Side by Erica Ridley

Queen B’s Decree: We’ve really reached the end of the Wynchester era, and I’ll be sad to say goodbye.

Our quiet, introverted poet Jacob is the last to find his match. Outspoken immigrant and aspiring play writer Vivian abhors the Wynchesters and how they abuse the law (despite it being for good), but she needs their help to find her missing cousin. And naturally, sparks fly between the two.

Vivian is a tough character to like at first. She’s gone through a traumatic life and I can definitely empathize with how much of a struggle that would be. But she’s also a bit sanctimonious while holding this moral high ground—which seems very rude when she is both asking for their help and belittling them at the same time. Once the typical Wynchester hijinks kick in, I started to really get sucked into the story.

I loved the animal sidekicks (strangely I love Sally the most, somehow) and the cameos from Jacob’s adopted siblings. Overall, this was still a fun and wacky story and I can’t wait to see what Erica Ridley comes up with next.
