Queen B’s Decree: I listened to Red Card and I have to admit: I still know nothing about rugby, except it gives the men good butts.
I do know that I love a “teaches her how to date trope,” especially when there’s a hint of forbidden. Rory is a bit ‘not like other girls’ for me, but I did enjoy her friendship with Kill flourish and transition from fake to real. The tension between them was done so well and I nearly did a happy dance when they finally kissed.
But I think what I loved best was the friendships. Either between Rory and her rugby boys, or Kill and his sister, or Kill and his teammates, it was just kind of heartwarming to see the found family trope in action.
The middle of the story definitely had some pacing issues and I found myself struggling with my attention span, but I was hooked back in once Rory and Kill made it official and the ending perked up for me. Overall, an enjoyable sports romance with a few flaws. The audio narrators did wonderful though, and loved Kill’s accent!
