Queen B’s Decree: Melanie Moreland books are usually just so satisfying to read. Finn was no different.
I read this as an audio book, and John Lane’s Irish accent really sucked me into the story. The cadence, the accent, it all worked so well. And Finn as a character was so lovable. Yes, he’s a big, bad mafia man, but he’s a marshmallow. He’s loyal to his people and loves them hard, and he is so smitten for Una. It’s basically love at first sight for him and nothing will change his mind.
Una…is not as lovable as a character. She wants to stay out of Finn’s dark world, yet she’s okay with benefiting by being his employee, getting special treatment, staying in his orbit. I don’t think it was purposeful, but sometimes it almost felt like she was manipulating Finn by using his love for her to benefit her brother. Again, I truly don’t think Una thought of it that way, but that is the overall feel I got regardless.
The spice and steam between Finn and Una was top notch, and I was so glad once they finally gave into their passions and fully admitted their ILUs.
Despite that, Finn was still an enjoyable listen and I’m sooooo on board for the next in the series.
