Codename Charming by Lucy Parker

Queen B’s Decree: I was obsessed with Codename Charming. It has so many things I can’t resist: slow burn, fake dating, witty banter, Beauty and the Beast references, and emotional baggage that brings our main characters together.

I loved Matthias. He’s such a giant teddy bear; he may look like a giant, scary bodyguard, but he just wants to protect Pet…from everything. And he doesn’t believe that anyone as beautiful as her would ever look at him. MY HEART! But Pet is the kind of heroine I love; she sees what’s within Matthias but still is attracted to his unusual looks. I loved how Pet was so staunchly protective of him, always standing up for him when someone tried to disparage his looks.

Codename Charming was funny and sweet, but I also really enjoyed that they story line was deeper than just a traditional romance. It delved into childhood trauma and feelings of abandonment, and both Matthias and Pet were open and honest and communicated so well with each other. Hmmm give me all the good communication.

Such an enjoyable read and I’m now on board for anything else Lucy Parker sends my way!
