To All the Guys I Killed Before by Sara Whitney

Queen B’s Decree: I don’t know what it says about me, but I am drawn to serial killer romances. Sorry Ma, it’s probably all the Forensic Files, CSI, and Unsolved Mysteries I watched.

Our main characters, Rue and Hugo, are both basically Dexter. Serial killers who only kill bad guys, and bonus—they tend to go after the same bad guys…mostly because Hugo wants to impress Rue. But it gets a little tricky, both are hiding their secret criminal nature while being boring neighbors to each other.

I’m not gonna lie, the beginning was a little longwinded for me. I kept waiting for some action, for some true interaction between them. But once it all comes out and they both realize who the other is, I was hooked. I loved the side characters, and thought it was kind of cute that they end up forming a murder gang.

I enjoyed the chemistry between Rue and Hugo, and how protective and obsessive they are of each other. Steam was just right too, although for a book over 500 pages, I still somehow felt like I wanted more emotional connection between them.

Overall, this was an enjoyable dark romance (Romcom?? There definitely were funny moments) and I’m interested in the next in the series.
