Queen B’s Decree: I crushed the first in this series in a day, so I knew I’d be all over this one when it released.
This one started immediately after the cliffhanger ending of The Never List, and I was once again, hooked. Rylee and her princes have to navigate their new normal, the way their magic is changing. But instead of having any honeymoon period, they are forced into a new challenge, this one from the princes’ fathers. UGH, in-laws, amirite?
Rylee is put through some ridiculous trials, ones that feel pretty targeted—but honestly, it doesn’t feel like a secret that at least one of her in-laws doesn’t particularly like her. And despite successfully navigating these trials, it feels like Rylee and the princes are always a step behind. At least they all get some time together to deepen their relationship, so it felt like a good mix of steam and suspense.
And the author destroyed me with another brutal cliffhanger, but I’ll have you all know Jade apologized for all my pain and suffering. So now I just patiently wait for the conclusion of the trilogy.
