Queen B’s Decree: One of the better things that has happened to me in the bookstagram world is that Eva Chase likes me enough to give me early copies of her books. Oh, the author where I binge read 9 books in a row gives me the privilege to read her books?? BLESS.
Shine & Shadow is the next book in The Second Fate of Elodie Devine series and I am still so into the premise. Elodie is transported to an alternate reality where the previous her died, and she needs to figure out who killed the other her. And whoops her four fated mates are here, so she has memories of the other AU mates and is learning to navigate the new them.
Yes it’s a mouthful but I AM ENTHRALLED.
The mystery keeps unfolding, with a little more information learned each time. The relationship with her mates continues to grow, and we finally get a bit more hanky panky with a few of them. I mean, I get it, she’s trying to not do the butterfly effect and hurt them or ruin something, but the girl has way more will power than me. I’d have let them woo me soooo much earlier.
This was my first on audio, and oh man, I’m gonna need all of them that way. Narrators Rose Dioro and Stephen Dexter did so well. Stephen Dexter has done some of my favorite cowboy books in the past so I thought I’d be picturing a Texas ranch but he did so well that it was only a bit of deja vu at times, but he mostly kept me in the present with all four mates (differentiated so well!!).
Eva, your books are my crack and I’m always jonesing for more.
