Queen B’s Decree: The Runes of Rebirth is the third and final story in the Freedom for Rhethos series, and you absolutely have to read the previous books before diving in. There are a lot of characters, and you’ll need the context.
The war is coming to its pinnacle, and it really highlights how war can affect even the strongest of people. You may do or act differently than you ever thought you would in certain situations. Whether it be bad or good, sometimes the choices made in war show you who you really are. I think that was my favorite part; the realities of how even the “good guys” can make bad decisions.
The intricacies of the magic was interesting to me, and I really liked seeing how it unfolded. How every person was integral to the plan.
Pacing was slow for a bit in the first half, but the narrator, Nick Sandys, has such a way of keeping my attention, that I had no choice but continue (since I needed more of his performance!).
And yes, despite the ending I am still sad about certain characters, and no, I don’t want to talk about it. Just know that despite the sadness I’m feeling, the story was worth finishing.
