Queen B’s Decree: You know, I put off reading this one because I remember Eric having a regular hook-up (in book one, Thrown for a Loop) and I didn’t want to deal with all this drama. But rest easy, dear readers, it didn’t even become an issue.
Darcy and Eric are both troubled and damaged people, just in different (and yet similar??) ways. Darcy has been dealing with her terrible dad and his terrible family most of her life, feeling like an outsider. And Eric tries to be the good guy and fix everyone’s problems while always knowing he can’t fix his family’s biggest problem. It totally makes sense that they work together—they’re both in need of a bit of therapy. But don’t we all??
The progression of coworkers to fake dating to “oh maybe a fling is okay” felt believable and I was just so happy for them both to get a bit of relief (😏) when they both had such stressful lives.
I loved these two together and had such a fun time reading. Despite the heavy topics mentioned, this story still felt happy and light and made me want more from the series. So glad DeLuca is next!
