Queen B’s Decree: Rules for Aging and Larceny is basically what if a group of thieves break up, go their separate ways for 40 years, then reunite and bicker like the Golden Girls for one last heist.
It’s a mix of hilarious chaos and deep (and sometimes uncomfortable) truths. In facing their own mortality, Frances, Joan, Edie, and Irene get back together to pull one last heist—one to provide some justice against a crypto-scammer. They all had a vicious break up (like…maybe the FBI was involved) so it’s not all cupcakes and roses when they meet back up, but I love seeing old relationships get renewed.
A lot of the story felt whimsical (like…would their heist really work??) but the interpersonal relationships felt so real. I can only imagine being in my 70s and recognizing how time is finite and wanting to go out with no regrets, living life to the fullest.
A quick and enjoyable read!
