Read. Reign. Repeat.

A Stage Set for Villains by Shannon J. Spann

Queen B’s Decree: I have never read a book like this before. The storyline was so enthralling, especially to a woman who has long been obsessed with musical theatre.

The magical world was so unique. The idea that “players” or actors have this kind of magic that compels normal humans is such a wild thought. But isn’t acting kind of a magic? Convincing your audience you are this other person with your mannerisms and actions. It just really made you think a little harder.

And oh my god, the interactions between Riven and Jude. For so long, I was never sure who to root for; who was the good guy and who was the bad guy. It kept me guessing and the last third or so of the book had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t stop reading to see how it was all going to end.

And yes, I got so invested that I definitely teared up a bit towards the end. Honestly just wow, I can’t believe this is a debut and now I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out for more from Shannon J. Spann!
