Queen B’s Decree: I couldn’t put Strange Familiars down.
I lived for the banter between Gwendolynne and Harrisford. Harrisford had such “my father, the inventor of the toaster strudel!” energy while Gwen was very Hermione, scholarship student who is the smartest vibes. Their back and forth was the best. And it was so clear to everyone (except those two) how much the man was down bad for her. He just wants to love her and protect her.
The magical world was so interesting, and the idea that magic is finite and has been turned into a commodity was so different to what I expected. And Percy was the best familiar, he was such a snobby cat, I couldn’t help but pick him as my favorite character.
I didn’t know this was part one of a duology, so the ending snuck up on me. And I am genuinely unwell and I don’t know how I’m going to survive until we get our conclusion.
