Queen B’s Decree: Despite some secondhand embarrassment, I loved the first in the series, Story of My Life, so I was so excited to dive into Zoey’s story.

First off…the secondhand embarrassment continues in Mistakes Were Made. There were moments that felt like I was watching Scott’s Tots from The Office…near unbearable. But once Gage and Zoey actually start their relationship, I was sucked in. Their opposites attract vibe, their chemistry, how both characters accepted change. There is a plethora of side characters but they only added to the fun of the story.

What really stuck with me was the emotions. This is mentioned in the first book, but Gage’s sister was paralyzed and his brother-in-law died after being hit by a car while they were out running. And in Mistakes Were Made…we get to see his sister forgive and help the woman who was driving the car. It was just so much; so many feels, tears, and bittersweet happiness, I couldn’t contain myself.

The third act break up was rough, and I’m still not sure I’ve forgiven Gage, but I still enjoyed myself overall. Lila Winters and Sebastian York did such a fantastic job on the narration, that I can forgive a little bit more.
