Queen B’s Decree: I had a fun time with this one. A vampire, who is basically a Dexter-esque serial killer of bad guys, finds his mate who happens to be the police detective investigating his crimes? What’s not to like?
Zavier was obsessed with Celine. Like in the “move in next door, shows up at her blind date, makes her cat love him” kind of obsession. And despite being a police detective who should be wary of all the red flags, Celine seems to dig it. Can’t blame her, I do too.
The story was primarily fun banter (and inner monologues) between the two, but I also appreciated the deeper, more emotional moments when Celine spoke or met with her dad. The mystery was interesting, I never knew what to expect—but the action and suspense at the end really hooked me. I literally listened to this book in an entire day, I couldn’t put it down.
The narration was top tier—Teddy can do no wrong, and made the reading experience even that much more enjoyable. Can’t wait for the next in the series on audio!
