Queen B’s Decree: A historical dark why choose, with gangsters, and full cast narration? Why yes, I need that.
Silvia is kind of held hostage by a group of gangsters, held for ransom for protection payment from her mother’s and stepfather’s business. When they don’t pay…instead of sleeping with the fishes, Sil joins their group. Kind of like a Bonnie and Clyde situation, except she has four Clydes.
I will be totally frank here, the plot is exceptionally minor. There’s a bit about bootleg selling some moonshine, but it’s mostly lots of naked scenes. Some emotional development between them all, but yes, a lot of sex. The second half had a pretty dark moment (that I would have been prepared for had I actually read the trigger warnings, so please do that!) that felt incongruous to the rest of the story, so I wasn’t a huge fan.
But the narration made the story. The full cast was great, and I was definitely able to get to know each character’s personality through their individual voices. And their 1930’s gangster accents made it all the more fun.
