Queen B’s Decree: There is something about the MC world that Cala Riley writes that I just can’t stop reading. There’s a little darkness, but it’s always overshadowed by my favorite thing: obsessive, adoring MMCs.
Mac’s Obsession is the third in this series, but I didn’t feel out of place when I read out of order.
Mac feels like something is missing in his life, but when his sister calls him and asks him to let a runaway abused single mom and her two kids stay in his rental house (off the books of course), he capitulates…until he meets them and is entranced. I really loved Mac. He was so gentle and steady, and it was clear he cared about Jane and her kids equally. Her two kids were the star of the show—this book wouldn’t have been so good without them.
There is definitely a degree of instalove here, but I don’t mind. I wanted both Jane and Mac to get their happy endings, so I didn’t care how it happened. And now I gotta go back and read the first two books in the series!
