Read. Reign. Repeat.

A Killer Kind of Romance by Letizia Lorini

Queen B’s Decree: I felt like the first half of the book dragged on for me—the prologue shows us a scene that happens midway through the book, so I felt like I already kind of knew what was coming and it was a slow walk to get there.

Scarlett is anti-romance, so anti that when she is assigned a romance-themed podcast (in addition to her murder mystery fiction podcast), she throws a big fit. And you know, as a romance reader, I found it to be kind of annoying. She had parents who genuinely loved each other (until their early death) and yet she doesn’t believe in love for herself. Girl really needed some grief therapy.

Rafael was a fun contrast, although I found it hard to believe he was so gone for her when they hadn’t interacted in over five years. Regardless he was swoony and a much more likable character.

Once the murder mystery really kicked in, I got much more invested in the story and the last half of the book flew by. Scarlett never really redeemed herself as a character but by the end I didn’t care, I was having fun no matter what. I listened to this one on audio, the narrator Lindsey Dorcus did a fantastic job and kept me listening.
