Another day, another collection of DNFs. As always, while these didn’t work for me, they may be the perfect books for you!

💗Where There’s Room for Us by Hayley Kiyoko — I just couldn’t get my head around the fact that gay marriage is totally normalized in the 1880s but estate entailment still was gender-based? It felt like the author wanted to write about her own personal love story (and that’s okay!) and forced it into a historical romance. Didn’t work for me.
💗The E.M.M.A. Effect by Lia Riley — Maybe I’m a little triggered by AI right now, but it’s just less fun to read about when I know realistically the climate ramifications it causes. I didn’t love how AI, which was supposed to be used to help improve athletes’ stats, was instead used to matchmake. Beyond that, Harriet’s character made me feel so awkward and cringy, I could not continue.
💗We Who Will Die by Stacia Stark — I feel like we were just thrown into the story with minimal world building, so I never really understood the magic. And there are vampires, but you kind of forget they are vampires since they just act like everyone else, except more wealthy. After I realized I couldn’t keep track of all the side characters (three of them with names that begin with Ti) and I had no interest to, I decided to just bow out. I enjoyed the duet narration but even that wasn’t enough to keep me going.
💗Most Eligible by Isabelle Engel — Love is Blind and 90 Day Fiancé are two of my guilty pleasure shows, so I was excited to start a romcom based on a Bachelor-type show. For someone who claims to be an investigative journalist, Georgia seems to be all over the place. And it was weird how much weight she placed on a one night stand that she gave a fake name to and he bounced the next morning. But that’s apparently the second chance romance we get here, and I was not invested at all, so I was the next to bounce.
