Queen B’s Decree: I never expected Duke to unseat Sawyer as my favorite Rivers brother…but alas, he has my whole heart.
Accidental pregnancy is not my favorite trope (likely because I am child free on purpose) but this was the best use of that trope ever. Duke and Wheeler discussing it, exploring all options, neither ever pressuring the other. It was wholesome and heartfelt and such a breath of fresh air.
Duke wanting more out of life is such a relatable feeling. I feel the same about travel—it gives me life but there is nothing better in the world than coming home. So Duke really just put into words the way I try to live my life, and I’m not sure I’ve ever felt so seen.
Wheeler was a harder character to love, but seeing her begin to love herself was so satisfying. Having Duke’s amazing family around really showed how a found family can save you from yourself.
Lastly, I’ve done this entire series on audio and once again, Stephen Dexter and Lila Winters are the perfect choices for narration. The small Texas town vibe comes across and I just can’t stop listening. And now…Ryder is the last and I can’t wait.
