Queen B’s Decree: Not gonna lie, I read this whole book in one evening. I just could not put it down.
Loren and Cal were in love as teenagers, despite being from rival mafia families—at least until Cal broke her heart. Loren only comes to him for help when she has no other options, and what Cal wants in exchange? Marriage.
I was sucked into the tension, the bickering, the angst. For the first half of the book, it was almost like Cal just took all of Loren’s punishment and that soothed my grovel-loving heart so much. And once they make up and the spice kicks in? Sweet baby rays, I was all in.
I will say this was one where I had to suspend belief for a bit. Why are all the mafia employees so young (I’ve watched the Sopranos, surely there’s an old made man on staff??)? How were there not more injuries? What happened with her ghost writing job?
But I digress. These are thoughts that pop up later in the shower but didn’t affect me at all during my read. I’m super invested in the side characters and I’ll be checking out the next book in the series for sure.
