Read. Reign. Repeat.

The Missing Magic of Sparrow Xia by Leia Ham

Queen B’s Decree: I was surprisingly sucked into the mystery in this story. Fun fact: I had like 10-20 pages left and I had to go to work…so I brought it with me and read while I was waiting for my computer to log in.

Relatively easy world building, where most magic is based on elements. And I liked that we still have questions at the end (frankly, the same questions the characters have too!), instead of everything getting totally wrapped up and fixed.

The characters were fun, although there were quite a few of them and some had better development than others. But overall, this was an entertaining middle grade academic fantasy read, with really good illustrations. In fact, I think reading this in physical form is the best way to read—you don’t want to miss out on the art!
