Read. Reign. Repeat.

One Week to Win the Chocolate Maker by Timothy Janovsky

Queen B’s Decree: A Willy Wonka type situation except the golden ticket is part of a competition to marry Willy? And Willy is a flamboyantly dressed pansexual short man? Why yes, I did need this book.

For a book that is inherently ridiculous and light, there were plenty of emotional moments and deep discussions. Charlie and his family’s near poverty, Dario’s agoraphobia; both of them struggling with opening up and being vulnerable. But somehow, despite those darker issues, this book was still a fun and quick read.

I enjoyed the banter between Dario and Charlie, and the antics of the other contestants was always entertaining. And at the end of the day, both Charlie’s and Dario’s family were so supportive and wholesome. One Week to Win the Chocolate Maker was lovely read for an afternoon where I pretended I was in Italy.
