About Bucking Time by Marika Ray and Sylvie Stewart

Queen B’s Decree: I really appreciate having older characters sometimes, and both of the best friends Dallas and Shelby are around 40. After Shelby has a bad break-up, Dallas decides to pretend to be her fiancé, to stop any gossip in their small town.

While I enjoyed the friendship between Shelby and Dallas, there are parts of their romantic relationship I don’t love. Dallas is basically a ladies man and it felt like he had slept with literally everyone in their town (except Shelby), and maybe it’s just me…but that just gives me the ick. And Shelby, while she’s had relationships, it felt like this weird “she has unrequited love while he sleeps with everyone” vibe.

Besides that, About Bucking Time was a fun and enjoyable romcom. The banter was lighthearted, and I liked all the side characters we got to meet (and I have a feeling who the next book will be!). Good character growth and the right amount of steam, I’ll be interested in the next book!
