Queen B’s Decree: There is something about Brandy Hynes’ writing that hooks me and doesn’t let go. She makes me feral, which is fitting, as Maddox is kind of feral too.
Twelve Mile Limit is almost a black cat x golden retriever vibe…if the retriever is also a tiny bit insane. Maddox is the kind of obsessive MMC I adore: he watches Tessa constantly, will do anything to protect or help her, but also can’t help himself but bicker and make her mad on purpose (because she’s gorgeous when she’s angry kind of way). He’s my new favorite Brandy MMC, his vulnerability and overt love of his family is such a great contrast to his ‘touch her and ☠️ energy.
And Tessa, I loved her sense of self. She has been attempting to push herself into the box her family wants her to be in, but as soon as she gets a little support, she thrives in being her true self. Not just Maddox, although he is her cheerleader at all times, but his family adopts her into the fold where all they do is love her.
And as always, the emotional connection that shines here is balanced out well with plenty of spicy spice (like seriously, give me a fan to cool off) and an interesting and suspenseful plot. I am so glad there are three brothers left to give us at least three more books in this world. I already want to reread, starting at the beginning of KORT.
