The Entanglement of Rival Wizards by Sara Raasch

Queen B’s Decree: I will be totally honest here. I don’t even remember the two different branches of magic that Theo and Sebastian are in. The magic and world building felt so unnecessary to me—I was 100% focused on the characters and the emotions.

And I was in love.

I loved how both Sebastian and Theo are a little damaged, with tragic and difficult pasts. And that despite being academic rivals, they put aside their petty differences to work together. And after that, their forced proximity leads to proximity in a wanted way (wink wink). The spice was definitely spicing in this one, and whenever Theo called Sebastian baby, I swooned.

What made this story great was that not only was the romance and relationship between the two leads enthralling, the side characters were integral and important as well. Seb’s BFF Orok was such an amazing character and I loved their platonic friendship—both of them are so ride or die for each other, it’s heartwarming (even if it started a bit as a trauma bond, it still makes my heart happy).

All the stars for this one, and I can’t wait for Orok’s story next.
