Queen B’s Decree: I loved that Fionamara and Antal are both severely flawed characters. Fi runs away from her problems while Antal does his best to ignore them.
Fair warning to everyone: Antal is a monster that survives with eating humans. And Fi is a human. So yeah, that is definitely a barrier to their relationship.
I like an enemies-to-lovers trope where the main characters are literally enemies. And it’s once they are forced to work together against a common enemy (so many enemies in this one NGL), that Fi discovers that Antal is basically a broody little house cat with antlers. I liked getting to know both of them better, and see how they interacted with the other townspeople—especially her brother Boden.
This one was a mix of fun, sexy, depressing, and hopeful, and I’m looking forward to the next from this author. The audio was especially the best way to read, the accents were spot on.
