Read. Reign. Repeat.

Aspasia by Florence Wetzel

Queen B’s Decree: Before I start, this book deals with difficult subject matter related to a child’s safety and well-being.

This story went by quick. Katerina discovers something early on dangerous to her daughter, and she schemes to keep her safe. It takes place in the early 1990’s in a small village on Crete, and I felt transported. A small town where everyone knows everyone else’s business. And transplants are treated with friendly gestures…but not the same as the native residents, it’s easy to see that Katerina feels the divide.

The whole story you’re rooting for Katerina and hoping that she’s successful. Aspasia is a well written story with good characterizations that bring forth so many emotions.
