Jeweler to the Blessed by Jillian Witt

Queen B’s Decree: Jeweler to the Blessed had an interesting magical premise. The king could bestow his favor and give jewelry—usually rings— to those who become ‘blessed’ who are then able to absorb/eat/use other peoples’ emotions and transform it into magic. And Emberline has kept it secret her whole life that her emotions are unable to be used by the blessed. She’s on the cusp of leaving when a family situation forces her to stay and forces her directly into the royal line’s eye sight.

I like the vibe of Ember and her bodyguard, Hart. Such great banter and sexual tension.

The pacing was a bit slow for me at the beginning, and I struggled getting into the story. But once the action really started, I was all in and wanted to see how it would all play out. I felt for Ember, she was kept in the dark about so much of herself, but I loved getting all the secrets revealed—I want to know everything!

I’m definitely interested to see how it will play out.
