A Collection of DNFs: Volume Six

Another day, another collection of books that I quit reading for one reason or another. As always, while this book didn’t work for me, it may work for you!

💙Oath of Fire by K. Arsenault Rivera — This may have been an okay read, but when it was revealed that Psyche (a therapist) revealed confidential information to a patient’s parents, I was out. Yes, I hold my fictional characters to a high moral standard when it regard patient confidentiality and HIPAA.

💙Nobody in Particular by Sophie Gonzales — I couldn’t get into this one. I felt it was a little boring, and the two main characters were not very likable. Rose was a mean girl, and Danni was a bit opposite-snobbish? Like she was judging all the rich kids pretty hard. And maybe I just didn’t want to read about a hardcore Catholic country and how Rose was willing to basically “turn off the gay” just to keep the monarchy going.

💙Taste the Love by Karelia and Fay Stetz-Waters — You’re telling me that a chef who is basically a type-A overachiever wouldn’t open her mail and pay attention to the very legal document telling her about her family’s land? Add in that I didn’t connect with either main character, and I moved on.

💙Of Flame and Fury by Mikayla Bridge — Maybe this one was just not at the right time for me, but I ended up feeling bored. The story starts off hardcore action, with minimal world building, and I felt like I was tossed in towards the middle of a story. And perhaps because I didn’t totally understand everything happening, I was less hooked or interested, so my mind kept wandering.
