Read. Reign. Repeat.

Follow Your Bliss by Holly Rose

Queen B’s Decree: I really liked that Follow Your Bliss had topics that you don’t often see in a contemporary romance.

I thought it was an interesting dynamic, counteracting Jason’s “I’m not sure of my spiritual journey” celibacy with Rose’s “I’m afraid of commitment so I only have sexual relationships” sexual openness. I appreciated their honesty with each other and being able to discuss it like adults, with neither of them pushing their agenda upon the other. When they did move into the spicy part of their relationship, it was mutually agreed upon with plenty of consent.

Another great thing was the mental health representation, addressing Rose’s anxiety/panic attacks and Jason’s struggle with a previous emotionally abusive relationship. And once again, both of them were so open and communicative about it.

I did struggle a little with Jason in particular. He definitely needed some therapy to learn how to set boundaries with his family—his mother especially. And thus, the ending felt like it was a little too wrapped up for me, as I think some counseling could benefit them both. But also it was cute and sweet and the epilogue was adorable.

Overall, this was a fun and enjoyable read and I’d absolutely be down to read the next in the series!
