Read. Reign. Repeat.

Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry

Queen B’s Decree: This was my first read by Devney Perry. You’ll all call me crazy, but I’ve been putting off reading her contemporaries. It’s the hipster in me, but she seemed too popular.

Well, dear reader, throw out all my flannel because my hipster-ness has gotta go. I should have read her a LONG time ago.

Shield of Sparrows was such an addicting read. Despite the lengthy page count, I couldn’t put this down and I read it in such a short time span. The characters, the tension, the slow burn, the bickering and banter, the storyline, the magic. It all works so well and draws you in. Odessa was an amazing heroine; she wasn’t some magically gifted woman who learned to fight super quickly (you know what I mean, sometimes it’s like an 80’s movie montage) but she got her butt kicked, made plenty of mistakes, but at her core, she is loyal and good and honorable.

Ugh, the twist at the end was so unexpected. And I just need to know what’s gonna happen next. I am so sucked into this series and I already want to read it all over again.
