Queen B’s Decree: I have been waiting for Cam and Dusty’s story—even though I know it’s a second chance trope. I was ready to be hurt.
Wild and Wrangled alternates between current day and the past, when Dusty and Cam first met. I usually get frustrated with alternating timelines, I just want to know what happened in the past NOW. But these scenes from their past was so wonderful, I wouldn’t ever get rid of them. Dusty and Cam felt like endgame since the beginning, so I was like a hyper chihuahua trying to hurry up and wait to see what caused them to sever.
Them becoming friends (and more👀) felt so natural and I liked seeing Cam open up and lower her guard around Dusty. It was towards the end that I struggled.
Dusty was a wonderful peach of a man. He was truly devoted to Cam…and Cam doesn’t deserve it. Their break-up as teens was painful (but frankly, inevitable) but she was the impetus to it. And yet the whole book I felt like she was blaming him some how. And the third act break-up was not it. Another overreaction from Cam that Dusty apologized for (sir, do NOT, you are not at fault) and I say this with all the love in my cold, dead heart but Dusty deserved better.
But I still enjoyed this audio. Connor Crais did a fantastic job as Dusty and I loved all the cameos from the Ryder men—Amos deserves all the stars. I’ll be sad to see this series go, but I may need a relisten of my boo, Wes.
