Read. Reign. Repeat.

The New Guy by Sarina Bowen

Queen B’s Decree: I’ve always enjoyed Sarina Bowen’s foray into M/M relationships and The New Guy was no different.

I was immediately drawn to Gavin. His interactions with his daughter, his openness about his grief over his passed husband, his understanding and caring for Hudson. Hudson was a little rougher, his emotions always a bit more raw, but you couldn’t help but root for him. He’s been hiding his sexuality for years, after he was coincidentally traded from a team after coming out to his coach. And he just keeps getting traded and doesn’t trust anyone. Until Gavin.

Their relationship progression was both hot and sweet. From an almost hookup to coworkers to friends and eventually to lovers, I loved seeing both of them be vulnerable. Gavin, as he’s already lost a love once, and Hudson, afraid to be himself in the public eye.

The New Guy was an emotional ride that I couldn’t stop reading. Well written and always making me want more.
