Vampires in America Reading Order

Vampires in America by D.B. Reynolds was first introduced to me by Queen J. And from page one I was hooked.

Vampires in America just might be one of the best series I’ve ever read. For a series that has so many books, you might expect the characters and plots to become formulaic after a time. Not so, with ViA. This is the magic that D.B. Reynolds brings – consistently interesting characters and stories.

With no further ado, our reading order:

  1. Raphael – Our first introduction to the ViA world and the amazingness that is the strongest heroine ever, Cynthia.
  2. Jabril – This is a little like Raphael part two, as it continues the emerging relationship between Raphael and Cyn.
  3. Rajmund – We meet a few new characters, most importantly Raj and his human mate Sarah. The political world of vampires continues!
  4. Sophia – A gender reversal here with a female vampire Sophia and her human mate Colin.
  5. Duncan – Duncan has been Raphael’s right hand man for over a century, but he leaves the nest and meets his mate Emma.
  6. The Vignettes Volume 1 – Short stories about all the couples we’ve met thus far. Not integral to the main story, but always worth a read
  7. Betrayed – a novella about Raphael and Cyn.
  8. Lucas – Lucas is an Irish vampire with the gift of gab, and his mate Kathryn is a no nonsense FBI agent. Their meet-cute is adorable.
  9. Hunted – another Raph and Cyn novella that continues the political plot line.
  10. Aden – Aden was a Moroccan slave in his human life but now lives as one of the most powerful vampires in North America. And his mate Sidonie is a reporter intent on getting the facts.
  11. Unforgiven – I totally forgot how many Raph and Cyn novellas there are, but don’t skip reading them!
  12. Vincent – Vincent is a badass Mexican vampire looking to be Lord of Mexico and his mate is an equally badass bounty hunter, Lara.
  13. Deception – A full length novel with Rafe and Cyn; always fun to revisit them.
  14. Christian – A coffee snob for a vampire and a smart Southern woman, Christian and Natalie are a charismatic couple.
  15. Compelled – Another short Rafe and Cyn novella.
  16. Lucifer – Our first vampire on vampire love fest with Lucifer and Eleanor.
  17. Relentless – And bam! Another Rafe and Cyn novella.
  18. The Vignettes Volume 2 – Similar to volume 1, not integral to the main story but always worth a read.
  19. Quinn – Our first non-North American vampire! So I guess this should technically become “Vampires in Europe,” but for the sake of continuity and chronological order, I will add it to this list. Meet Quinn and his human mate, Eve.
  20. Lachlan – And on to Scotland! Continuing the European trend with Lachlan and Julia.
  21. Xavier – Hopping on down to Spain with Xavier and Layla.
