One of my favorite series of all time is the Hashtag Series by Cambria Hebert. It was a no-brainer to read the spin-off series, GearShark. I expected to love it – and I did. I didn’t expect to love it as much as I do.
You may have realized this by now, but between the two of us, Queen J is the more creative. I am more of a list maker; long, flowing sentences don’t come easy to me. So the fact that I’m compelled to write this may come as a surprise (especially to me!).
The first two books in the GearShark series feature Trent and Drew, characters first introduced to us in Hashtag. I’m not going to give you a plot summary, but instead tell you the reasons why I love these books and their characters (get it, I’m making a list?!?).
- Trent and Drew have one of the most realistic love stories I’ve read. Their road to happiness isn’t easy; it’s filled with fear, joy, pain, hate, and acceptance.
- I love a beautiful Mustang Fastback…vroom vroom.
- Cameo by Romeo and his alpha-ness.
- Their story is one I can believe in.
Therefore (isn’t this how all essays should end?), Trent and Drew are one of my fantasy couples I wish weren’t only fiction. I find myself reaching out and rereading their story whenever I need a pick-me up in life. #trewlove, indeed.
