Queen B’s Decree: So. I bought this paperback on a whim because it was A) on sale and B) had blue edges. And thus the natural next step was to borrow the audio from the library.
I…quit at about 50% in. It wasn’t the narrator—I enjoyed their interpretations of both characters and the different accent to help keep them separate. It’s just…for a book that was fraught with dragon attacks, and the two main characters hiding from the Queen’s guard the entire time (using fake names and identities!), it was pretty tedious.
The book starts with Kianthe and Reyna already in a relationship, with years of a backstory, and I felt like I had started a book mid-series. Spoiler alert: this is book one. Yet another way I felt disjointed and my interest kept waning.
Sadly, this one was not for me although I can see the appeal.
