Queen B’s Decree: Have you ever wished that you found out one day you were a princess to a distant land? That’s what happens to Maddie. Her late mother left her home country to marry a Texas boy, and years later….voila! Maddie is needed to be the heir to the throne.
The Backup Princess was a cute and light story, with some insights to deeper feelings and emotions. The “meet-ugly” between Maddie and Alex was pretty hilarious. I can totally imagine acting the same way in the situation…and then running away to bury my head in the sand. I’m really glad we got dual POV in this story, as I loved getting the insight to Alex the most; how much pressure he felt as the heir to the neighboring country.
The humor was fun, and I loved the support Maddie received from her family. But my favorite part was Alex and Maddie’s relationship progression. They both opened up and showed insecurities and fears. It felt like we really got insight into them both.
While there was no spice, it didn’t feel necessary or like it was missing.
