Read. Reign. Repeat.

Violence in the Void by Alice Stanco

Queen B’s Decree: Violence in the Void had so many tropes I love: kidnapping, enemies-to-lovers, touch her and die. Typing these in a row means I should probably make an appointment with my therapist…but I digress. Sparks flew as soon as Xander and Violet met and their fighting/banter was so enjoyable to read.

The world building was encompassing and I enjoyed the maps—really helped put it all together. And the side characters were some of my favorite parts of the entire story—Archi and Gaar in particular. Each side character felt integral and added to the story well.

Xander is the tortured hero of my dreams. I can’t resist a protective little dickhead with a morally grey, traumatic past. Violet was a little less likable, but hey, she’s got some trauma, so I’ll give her a pass. Alice’s description of Violet’s mental health issues was so very well done, it truly helped explain her character.

A lot of twists and turns (and a couple tears) and Violence in the Void took me to a place I wasn’t expecting. Overall, a great debut and I’m looking forward to the conclusion!
